Answers to Level Three

To go on to Level Two you have to score 7 out of 10...

1. Answer is (c) Have you driven.
We use the present perfect tense in British English with the word recently. The continuous form is inappropriate here as it is the result we are interested in, not the process of driving.

2. Answer is (c) so much worse.
The comparative form of the adjective bad is worse. We use so with than, not too.

3. Answer is (c) it used to be.
We use this expression used to + the bare infinitive to talk about how things were in the past.

4. Answer is (b) couldn't.
Didn't manage to ,wasn't able to, or didn't succeed in finding would all be possible answers too.

5. Answer is (b) must have been.
We use must as the positive modal of deduction.

6. Answer is (a) taking your car.
We use the ing form of the verb after consider.

7. Answer is (d) the weather is.
This is an example of the zero conditional where the present tenses are used. We need to use the definite article with weather.

8. Answer is (c) would've.
I am sure that the tube would have been a better choice.

9. Answer is (a) of.
The correct preposition here with dream is of. It means I would never consider going by bike.

10. Answer is (c) I'm not used,
which is used to describe an action that you are not familiar with and do not do regularly.
